ABC taps Andrew Breitbart for Election Night "analysis"

Mark Crispin Miller
Message Mark Crispin Miller
Breitbart has lied repeatedly, and unapologetically, not just about Shirley Sherrod but also ACORN and a lot of other issues, as Media Matters notes below (and as Brad Feidman has been pointing out for quite a while).
But it's not just Breitbart's lying per se that makes him totally unfit to speak on the results of this election (or any other). Rather, it the fundamental purpose of those lies: i.e., to disenfranchise as many citizens as possible, so as to help the GOP take power despite the will of the majority.
So let's tell ABC that there is no good reason, or excuse, for having such a character sit solemnly among their analysts on Election Night:
"How do I contact ABCNews.com?"

For "ABC News Web Site Feedback":

For all you Disney shareholders, there's this:

There are also a couple of Facebook pages for fans of David Muir ("the sexiest
anchor on TV!"), and an ABC bio at http://abcnews.go.com/WN/david-muir/story?id=127316.

ABC Taps Andrew Breitbart For Election Night Analysis
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/29/abc-andrew-breitbart-electi on-night_n_776381.html
Media Matters confirms that ABC News has recruited Andrew Breitbart, the conservative blogger whose out-of-context video footage of Shirley Sherrod got the Agriculture Department official ,to provide commentary for the network's election-night newscast.
The news was first reported by Breitbart's own website, BigJournalism, whose editor Dana Loesch is on tap to provide live analysis in the ABC News studio on Election Night. Breitbart is slated appear live from a town hall meeting anchored by ABC's David Muir and Facebook consumer marketing head Randi Zuckerberg.
ABC News spokesman David Ford told Media Matters -- which, in the wake of Sherrod's firing, unveiled a video entitled "The End of Andrew Breitbart's Credibility", and which maintains detailed files on him -- that Breitbart will not have license to lie during the broadcast. "He will be one of many voices on our air, including Bill Adair of Politifact," Ford said. "If Andrew Breitbart says something that is incorrect, we have other voices to call him on it."
For his part, Breitbart seems to be enjoying the backlash that has quickly followed the news; writing on Twitter, he's taking on all comers. A typical Tweet: "You mean Left going to boycott ABC because I'm on election night panel? Proving my main point: Leftists are PC totalitarians. #juanwilliams"
Earlier, in response to Media Matters editor Eric Boehlert decrying his hiring by ABC, Breitbart challenged Boehlert and his "PC smear mill" to debate him. "If @mmfa is so convinced of my 'lies', I will publicly debate these cowards on each & every one," Breitbart wrote. "Anytime, anywhere."

Failing Upward: Breitbart To Be Featured in ABC's 2010 Election Coverage

Media Matters has confirmed that noted propagandist Andrew Breitbart will provide analysis for ABC News during their election night coverage.
After Breitbart's BigJournalism.com website reported that Breitbart would "be bringing analysis live from Arizona" for ABC, Media Matters confirmed his participation in a town hall meeting anchored by ABC's David Muir and Facebook's Randi Zuckerberg that will be featured in the network's coverage.
Asked about Breitbart's history of unethical behavior and misinformation, ABC News' David Ford told Media Matters: "He will be one of many voices on our air, including Bill Adair of Politifact. If Andrew Breitbart says something that is incorrect, we have other voices to call him on it."
Media figures and outlets from across the board rejected Breitbart's race-baiting lies after he smeared former USDA official Shirley Sherrod as a "racist," using as "proof" a heavily edited video of comments she made during a March NAACP event that he posted on his site BigGovernment.com.
ABC's Terry Moran subsequently reported that "Breitbart had released only a clip of her speech, which distorted her real meaning, that she was wrong and had learned from her error," while Donna Brazile said that Breitbart "should apologize" to Sherrod. Both Brazile and Moran will also be featured during ABC's election night coverage.
Breitbart has repeatedly appeared on ABC to explain his false smears. In a July appearance on Good Morning Ameria, George Stephanopoulos called out Breitbart for pushing claims about Sherrod that are "clearly not true." During Breitbart's joint interview with James O'Keefe on the June 1 edition of Good Morning America, Stephanopoulos revealed a clip that had been excluded from an O'Keefe video posted on Breitbart's website of New Jersey census supervisors that undermined O'Keefe's contention.
Other highlights of Andrew Breitbart's recent career of authoring and promoting falsehood-laden journalism include:
"Nationwide ACORN child prostitution investigation"
Platform for anti-gay Jennings smears
Breitbart-promoted video falsely accuses Democrats of reconciliation hypocrisy
Wild accusations over Gladney case
Breitbart's websites make baseless claim that NEA engaged in lawbreaking
Bertha Lewis' nonexistent White House visit
The Maoist Christmas tree ornaments
The ACORN "document dump"
False claims of community organizers "praying" to Obama
Media Matters' Joe Strupp provided reporting for this post.
