RT.com reports that Edward Snowden has flown from Hong Kong to Moscow, on his way to a third country.
Tweets on Twitter claim Wikileaks helped and he flew on an Aeroflot plane.
Yesterday the US leveled charges against Snowden and informed Hong Kong that there would be repercussions if Hong Kong did not hand Snowden over for extradition quickly.
There has been talk of Snowden going to Iceland, but Iceland has made it clear that he must apply for refugee status in person, in Iceland.
Update: 11:57 AM EST
WikiLeaks reports:
"He is bound for a democratic nation via a safe route for the purposes of asylum, and is being escorted by diplomats and legal advisers from WikiLeaks.
"Mr Snowden requested that WikiLeaks use its legal expertise and experience to secure his safety. Once Mr Snowden arrives at his final destination his request will be formally processed."
Many people are speculating Snowden may end up in Caracas or Quito.
Update 2:30 PM EST
CNN is reporting that Snowden has requested asylum in Ecuador, and that the US has asked Cuba, Venezuela and Ecuador to refuse admission to Snowden.
