Watercolors are sometimes considered the first and the easiest approach to art for beginners. But the medium is incredibly demanding.
Over the last century, many notable modern painters whose fame rests on their oil paintings are also known for their watercolors; a few examples are John Singer Sargent, Andre Derain, Maurice de Vlaminck, Marc Chagall, and Andrew Wyeth.
