Dear Friends,
In a couple of weeks, we may lose the little information we are getting about Fukushima Daiichi from independent sources. That's when the new Japanese Secrecy Act goes into effect. People will be afraid to tell the truth about radiation leaks and exposure, on and off the site. Doctors have already been prevented from releasing information, even to their patients, about how cancers, birth defects, nosebleeds, etc are probably due to the poisons flowing from this damaged nuclear plant.
People no longer trust their government; freedom of speech is disappearing in Japan. The lies continue- it's all fine, everything is under control, let's concentrate on getting ready for the 2020 Olympics! It's like putting lipstick on a pig.
UN intervention would allow mobilization of world resources, to counter the greatest, most immediate threat to life we are facing (barring thermonuclear war).
Please read the article summaries below, sign and spread the two petitions. You might also consider writing to the Olympic Committee of your country, sending them the petition link and text.
Peace, Carol Wolman

In Japan, a draconian secrecy law that will severely limit public debate on national security issues is about to go into effect..
Late last year, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's
government railroaded a repressive new state secrecy law through Japan's
parliament. The Specially Designated Secrets Protection Act
(SDS) allows government officials to designate a broad range of
information as secret, including information with high public value, and
create harsh criminal penalties for unauthorized releases of
information...
Japan's new law fails the international standards on many
fronts and completely disregards the Japanese citizen's right to know.
The SDS provides only minimal guidance on what information may be
classified and does not exempt any categories of information from
classification, such as those with high public value. The new law
doubled the existing penalty for intentional and unauthorized disclosure
of information to 10 years from five, with a fine of up to 10 million
Yen ($92,000 USD). Criminal penalties will apply to journalists and
government whistleblowers who "improperly" obtain or who legitimately
expose government misconduct.
Euronews interview with Tepco engineer: "Tepco has lost the trust of the Japanese people. They are covering up how badly the groundwater has been contaminated" When there is a leak into the water around the tanks, they don't have to say anything. The cleanup is far from finished. There is an enormous amount of radiation debris remaining. Tepco said it will take 40 years, I believe it will take far longer."

Unfortunately, the amount of radioactive, harmful waste from the Great Japan Earthquake of 2011 is staggering.
While most radioactive elements have degraded, the radioactive elements that have not decayed to a measurable degree are Cesium and Plutonium, both of which can be deadly.

CBS San Francisco, Nov 21, 2014: Rare cancers, blindness, birth defects and now, two deaths. Hundreds of U.S. sailors" say they were exposed to dangerous levels of radiation" [Steve] Simmons" began feeling weak and sick with uncontrolled fevers" Soon he was in a wheelchair, unable to walk. He says military doctors would never tell him what was wrong. "Every one of them wanted to discredit radiation as a possible cause," Simmons said" "[There's] evidence that the doses that were assumed to be on board the USS Reagan may have been under-reported," said Dr. Robert Gould, a former Kaiser pathologist" "Given that there is more information that has come out, I think you would have to re-look at the entire situation," said Dr. Gould.
