So, ABC News has reported of a rumor that an Osama bin Laden tape will show up just before the election or just afterwards. Are you scared yet? Me, I am yawning considering the fact, this has been tried already which sent Senator John Kerry down in flames in 2004.
In this article, ABC News reports where government intelligence agencies are “anticipating a message” coming from bin Laden. The operative word being anticipating.
With people’s focus on the economy since many are losing their jobs and homes, as well as health insurance, they are going to let a tape from bin Laden affect them? I think they are already living in terror. Don’t you think so? We as rational people must remember it has been a Republican president who has failed to capture him and it is now seven years later.
With that said, in Keith Olbermann’s wonderful on-air commentary, he quoted Senator John McCain concerning Osama bin Laden, “Look,” he said. “I know the area, I’ve been there, I know wars, I know how to win wars, and I know how to improve our capabilities so that we will capture Osama bin Laden — or put it this way, bring him to justice. We will do it. I know how to do it.”
If you have known all this time, McCain as to how to capture bin Laden, as they say…Spill the beans with detailed plans on how to capture bin Laden and do it right now! Oh wait! To Senator McCain, why not ask Joe the Plumber who seems to be your foreign policy expert when it comes to Israel? You seem to be relying on him during this campaign to drive home a message.
Hey, Joe…I saw you speaking at one of McCain’s rallies on Thursday…You know the one you did not miss…What is your opinion on how to capture Osama bin Laden? Or do I have to go through your publicist? Or will that record deal get in the way of advising McCain as to how to capture bin Laden?
What really irks me is this statement, “So far there is only rumor, no hard evidence a message is coming, officials said.” If there is credible evidence that a tape is coming; alert us at that time.
Right now as I peruse the NY Times web site, I see that the Nikkei index is down 436 points, the Hang Seng is down 213 points and the Shanghai market is down 23 points. I think that most Americans are fearful of this credible threat that is not just a rumor.
While I have mixed this piece with some satirical humor, we have seen this once before and what happened? George W. Bush got back into the White House. Has he delivered bin Laden? Oh of course not. Let us keep our eye on the ball and keep saying, “It’s the economy, stupid!”
Tomorrow, I will write a piece directed at Sarah Palin who said that Obama is incapable of handling security issues. Uh huh! This coming from a woman who was called a ‘whack-job’ by the inner circle of the McCain campaign.
