A Syrian contact, Steven Sahiounie, has sorted through conflicting explanations of the Orlando crime and concludes that:
In solidarity with the victims or the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando

"Omar Mateen did not choose the venue of a gay bar, "Pulse", in Orlando, Florida as the scene of the massacre of 49 persons, with 53 wounded, based on hate of the gay community. In fact, Omar Mateen was openly gay, as recalled by classmates, co-workers, acquaintances, including regular patrons of "Pulse", and other gay bars in the area. He was even recognized by users of gay apps, and had used the gay apps for over 1 year to hook up for casual sex. Omar was even recognized by a gay app user as he approached "Pulse" the night of the carnage.
Omar Mateen had a foot in both worlds. He was a devoted follower of Islam, the religion he was born into in New York, to Afghan immigrant parents. He and his father regularly prayed together at their local mosque, the Islamic Center of Fort Pierce. He had a wife and child, yet he was living his life as a gay man and well known to the community, and certainly not in any closet.
He didn't hate gays, he was gay. His hatred was not directed at gays, even though his father had an intense hatred of gays. Omar's hatred was directed at Americans. Omar Mateen had scouted out other venues, including an amusement venue. Perhaps he felt it was too open, even though full of people. Instead he chose a familiar place, which was "Pulse".
Omar Mateen chose the venue for his act of Jihad based solely on the fact it was a closed room, dark, late at night and full of hundreds of people. He was counting on an easy entry, because he was a regular patron of the bar, he knew intimately how to enter and what to expect. He was counting on his assault rifle to allow him to take out any guards with guns from the outset, and further was counting on the fact that none of patrons would be armed. It was an easy target.
Look at other similar Jihadist massacres: Charlie Hebdo (Paris), Bataclan (Paris), San Bernadino (USA), and Brussels (Belgium). The common denominator is a closed room full of people. Note that attacks were both day and night. Omar Mateen declared his allegiance to ISIS, even though he had never traveled to Syria or Iraq. Declaring allegiance to ISIS only meant he was declaring that he was supporting the establishment of an Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. Who else wants an Islamic State? The well known group called the Muslim Brotherhood, with members and offices across the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe.
The Muslim Brotherhood, which was founded in Egypt in 1928 by Hassan al-Banna, is the most influential Islamist organization in the world, with a mission to topple all non-Islamic governments with rule by Islamic law, or sharia. The Brotherhood's long-standing motto includes the following: "Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Qur'an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope."
The Muslim Brotherhood has the exact same goals as ISIS, and yet is allowed to operate legally across USA, UK and Europe. In fact, the Muslim Brotherhood has close and long standing relationships with the US government and UK government at the highest levels. The Muslim Brotherhood has the same goals as ISIS, and is working tirelessly for the day to abolish the American government, in order to establish Sharia law as the only law in America.
The Mosque where Omar Matten, his father, and the terrorist Moner Mohamed Abu Salah all worshipped at, the Islamic Center at Fort Pierce, promotes the teachings of Maulana Abul Ala Maududi, the late Pakistani radical and contemporary of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna. Maududi preached that Islam will destroy the West. Before the 9/11 attacks, he ominously warned: "A time will come when capitalistic democracy will tremble for its safety in Washington and New York."
The White House and FBI are telling the public that Omar Mateen was a lone wolf, and worked alone, and was radicalized alone, from watching the internet. When we talk to the mothers of European Jihadists who have died in Syria, they state their sons were not radicalized online; alone in their bedroom, staring at the computer screen. No, they insist it was personal contact, with live persons, living in their community, who did the radicalizing. In fact, it was co-workers, classmates, friends, clerics and business persons in the community who were responsible for the brainwashing of their sons. It took a real contact, personal relationships, to cause a once normal person to leave a western society and travel to Syria for the express purpose of killing as many innocent persons as possible, in order to establish an Islamic State in Syria. When the mothers complained to local European authorities, they were told there was nothing they could do to stop these people in the community from future radicalization of young men. They had to protect the religious rights of all residents in Europe.
Who was responsible for the radicalization of Omar Mateen? There are many persons, beginning with his father, Seddique Mateen. Seddique was a CIA trained mujhadeen fighter in Afghanistan. He graduated from the same CIA training as his more famous comrade, Ossam bin Laden. Because of close US government ties, Seddique Mateen was allowed to migrate legally to the United States, and settled first in New York, where Omar was born. They later moved to Florida, where Omar was raised, married, attended the Police Academy, and was employed for over 10 years with a security firm, G4S.
Seddique Matten is the #2 in command of the small Florida mosque, Islamic Center of Fort Pierce, where both father and son regularly prayed at. Seddique Matten, had a long list of hate subjects: gays, Pakistan, the President of Afghanistan, and America. Seddique had his own TV show, which was political, and he aired his extremist views, along with anti-American rhetoric. Omar didn't learn to hate gays from his father, because Omar was a gay man, but he did learn to hate many different groups, and to develop radical ideas from his father. One co-worker of Omar's said he was not surprised of the attack, because Omar had ranted against many people, and said he wanted to kill a lot of people one day. Omar Mateen was filled with hatred, which in part was learned from his father's example.
The Islamic Center of Fort Pierce, where Omar and Seddique prayed at had already produced a Jihadist. Moner Mohamed Abu Salha was an American from Florida who traveled in 2014 to Syria and became the first American suicide bomber in Syria. He was actually only one of hundreds of American Jihadists who have traveled to Syria by way of Turkey. They are all fighting to establish an Islamic State in Syria. Omar Mateen knew Moner Mohamed Abu Salha, and the FBI questioned Omar about the relationship in 2014.
Moner Mohamed Abu Salha stated in a video he made, that he followed the American Radical Sheikh Anwar al-Awlaki . Awlaki was born in New Mexico, and died from an Obama ordered drone strike in 2011. This same Awlaki was the declared inspiration for the Paris attacks, and the Boston Bombers. In fact, Awlaki has been cited as the person responsible for issuing directives to all his followers globally to attack western countries, and western people.
According to Peter Bergen, "Awlaki is the key influence behind many of the major terrorist attacks and plots of the past half decade in the West"
