Before I say "Goodbye cruel world," I'd like to give my own humble opinion as to how it could be saved from total destruction. Guided by the highest principle of law, The Golden Rule, wisdom in choosing our values and our world leaders is tantamount to avoiding violent revolutions and wars. Based on my personal experience and watching American politics for over sixty years, I offer my ideas on how to prepare for a New World Order that I envision.
Wisdom comes from a
lifetime of learning, beginning at home. Babies should be taught to hug
everyone, to share toys, not to bite and kick, and not to be cruel to animals. Parents
should use tiny pats on the butt or hand and "no-no" if necessary. After age four or five, a butt-tap
is not effective, and a big stick will give you an undesired result, so all you
have left is encouragement and reasoning, maybe carrots too. There should be no
"black sheep" but all members accepted for who they are, if not
always for how they behave. We must also avoid familial treason, such as criticizing your
child to neighbors, or in front of others. Verbal abuse is always worse than physical
abuse. Don't compare them to those you hold in low esteem. These are the years you must show children they all have equal love and
equal rights, even if not equally talented, beautiful, or healthy. Show your
faith in your children. And make it a twice-daily practice of meditating on The
Golden Rule so you don't forget.
Get the kids ready to become proud and worthy of being Labor. I love to go to old adages because I find so
much wisdom there. "Any job worth doing is worth doing well" is one
idea I learned from my old Aunt Dorothy, who taught me to do domestic chores
with perfection when I was ten years old.
After a hard day of domestic work, I went to bed feeling a sense of
empowerment, of real value. The added advantage, from another old adage:
"Idleness is the devil's workshop." Highest praises must always go to Labor in any society and we
must be prepared for worker cooperation at all levels. And certainly, parents must make sure that if their children have the ability and determination to complete a university program, every effort should be made to see that they are not left behind!
Teach the children to discriminate against foul-mouthed people and those "Me-Firsts" who shove their way ahead in lines, and protesters who break into stores and throw stones. Tell them not to show their backs and dare an officer to shoot, or wear clothing and a "walk" that makes them look suspicious. Explain that it's best tactic to show respect when a policeman stops them, which will probably cause police to realize they have good judgment. Reaching out to make friends makes them seem innocent of any crime. It's wise to be friendly anyway though, even if guilty. A lot of people get out of tickets by apologizing. Explain to young people that there may be law officers who dishonor their professions by over-reacting in ways that bring their training and skill into question. Warn them to avoid becoming victims of such officers. When the case is brought before the court, it should be a simple matter for the judges to ask if either the victim or officer, or both, disobeyed The Golden Rule, and to each assign the appropriate blame.
Children need to discriminate when choosing their dressing attire. There are appropriate times and places for arousing our basic human drives, but not all day, every day, everywhere! Private advertising and media news are not always a good influence on our children.
Feminists must realize that it is sometimes their heads we want men to look at, not their knees and boobs. We don't need religion to know that society can be greatly degraded by too much emphasis on sex. (My old Pops made my aunt cry by forbidding her to be in a bathing-beauty contest.) We presently have too many young women pregnant before they are ready to care for a child. This is not only unfair to the rest of society, but mostly it is unfair to the child.
Measure the child's success by how adjusted and happy s/he is. Show students a successful person is a live, free, happy person, not necessarily a rich one. Show them not to be jealous of the material wealth of others, but glad for them instead. Let them realize the alternative means to happiness, the joy of creating, working toward goals, studying, investigating the world, adventurous expeditions. Anyone can be forced to be unhappy with themselves if we insist they compete with others too much or in too many ways. They should learn to compete with themselves as much as possible.
At home and in schools, children need to be taught the responsibilities of citizenship in a large and complicated world. Make them aware of people who vie for leadership in this world. Show them how to research the views of the contenders. Critical thinking and how to do research are the two most basic skills to be learned in our schools.
Taking personal responsibility is a good thing for children to learn. Children should also be taught that when all they can do for themselves fails, the community will show their love for The Golden Rule and come to their rescue. Welfare should not be doled out to slovenly people who time and time again show themselves as personally negligent. We must train people not to take advantage of others, which would also be counter to the Golden Rule, exploiting and manipulating the Good Will of others.
When we come to a point where government clearly sees an imbalance in the distribution of economic resources where a large majority of people are being driven into poverty while a minority is obtaining a gluttonous amount of our resources, it is incumbent upon government to seek a remedy to even things out. That could be higher taxes on the wealthy or programs for those so impoverished.
Hopefully adult voters will
vehemently discriminate against individual and corporate cheaters receiving
unjust taxpayer subsidies, and/or weaseling out of paying any taxes at all! Honest legislators would use the Golden Rule
to recognize the justice of "from each according to their means, to each
according to their needs." We Americans are bound to each other by the
constitutional contract guaranteeing each citizen the right to life, liberty
and pursuit of happiness. Unemployed or disabled or underpaid people are
deprived of these rights while the wealthy loose more of their happiness as
their incomes swell.
Legislators know that no matter where our tax money is spent, it flows through
the economy and stimulates economic growth. A tax break to any organization is
equivalent to taking that much money out of potential direct government
spending and hopefully into job creation, but that is not guaranteed. We do
know that a large part of that forfeited tax will go into the
"profit" of the organization; i.e., Wall Street. As a democratic
socialist, my preference is for direct government help to individuals and
families, or even to worker co-ops. In this way we are better assured the
economy will produce more of the things we need, through consumer spending, instead of unnecessary luxuries
only the rich can afford. Not any or even all of my jewelery makes me as happy
as does my bread and butter. Apparently Trump saved jobs at Carrier by making a bad deal
for America:

Our worry about the global trade can be greatly diminished if we realize the easy solution is instituting national worker economies. We should not only support labor unions in private enterprise, but we should encourage and fund worker co-ops! Worker cooperatives should get priority on government contracts for many good reasons, including the fact that they are more cost-effective and more egalitarian.
