How can we discover the elusive truths in the Russian invasion of Ukraine?

There have been plenty of high powered discussions and angry fault-finding conversations regarding the attacks. And there are many variables--as has been noted, the greater global community is at fault for both instigating and ignoring the situation as it developed, and, as usual, the U.S. is likely the biggest offender.

Of course, neither Zelenskyy nor Putin are 100% right or 100% wrong. To add complexity, both of them show classic signs of emotional damage from childhood.

Zelenskyy appears to be the saner one, although we know that the majority of comedians are products of childhood trauma, with most honing their comedic timing and communication skills as desperate survival mechanisms.

Putin is obviously out of balance. If someone wasn't already imbalanced when they got involved with the KGB, certainly they would be by the time they left. And Putin's obsession with shirtless photo ops are over the top, perhaps trying to make up for something missing from childhood, possibly having to do with his father. Those kinds of issues can cut deep.

We cannot know all the reasons why Putin chose to attack, although some can certainly be pieced together from observation. Reports strongly indicate that he may also be dealing with cancer, which is an archetype of war inside one's own body. A health crisis like that could contribute to Putin feeling that aggression is necessary, since it's possible that aggressive killing of cancer cells could be what is required to save his life. Could his actions in the outer world be paralleling his health at the cellular level?

Whatever the background, the reality of events comes down to Putin starting the initial attack, at least in this round, and Zelenskyy being forced into a position of defending--which does seem to be the practical response.

Ukraine is desperate, understandably, and the response from the rest of the world has been too little and too late to prevent death and destruction. Of course I do not support Nazis, and I don't claim to be perfectly clear on exactly what is going on regarding that group in this situation. I doubt that anyone is. But some of the talk has been about Zelenskyy aligning with them. So, I have to wonder: in the face of pathetically late and insufficient support from the rest of the world, if Zelenskyy was offered support from Nazis, and if he thought it would save Ukrainian lives, wouldn't he be morally forced to avail himself of that support?

It's hard to know within the chaos of the information/disinformation cycle what really happened--because how do we know whether we are getting the "real" news?

Several OEN commenters have cited wildly oppositional sources to support their conflicting positions. But as Mark Sashine observed in a recent comment, "There are no credible sources in the war." He's right. And probably, most--maybe all--sources are unreliable, war or not.
