Stanley Fischer with his newly acquired Israeli ID in 2005
In Israel, which Stanley Fischer left hastily before the end of his term, Fischer left a real-estate bubble and a black hole of NIS 39 billion (an enormous sum for the local economy). The evidence also shows his legacy in Israel involved placing banks above the law, subservient to the US surveillance apparatus.
Prof. Stiglitz's response: "He is so overextended that he is having to turn down even the smallest and most interesting additional commitments" (copied below).

Dear Dr. Zernik,
Thank you very much for your message and sorry for replying on behalf of Professor Stiglitz. Unfortunately, Professor Stiglitz is in the midst of extended international travel right now with limited access to phone and email, and he is so overextended that he is having to turn down even the smallest and most interesting additional commitments. Thus, he will be unable to schedule an interview or respond to your questions at the moment. Apologies, and many thanks again for your interest. Please feel free to check in another time.

Subject: Seeking your opinion on Stanley Fischer's conduct in Israel. Is Stanley Fischer again rewarded for conduct on behalf of US agencies abroad?
Dear Prof Stiglitz:
The reference to Stanley Fischer's conduct in Argentina from your 2001 book on globalization was cited in a recent piece by me, which was published by OpEdNews.com, [1]
The piece documents again, through a Freedom of Information request by an anti-FATCA lobby in Washington DC on Karnit Flug, Fischer's successor as Governor of Bank of Israel, conditions left by Fischer in Israel: Israeli banks purport to enforce FATCA, but Bank of Israel refuses to disclose what the law in Israel is in this matter...
Your input regarding Stanley Fischer's performance in Israel is sought for a short follow-up piece, now that Bloomberg reports that Fischer is up for Number 2 at the Fed, and is likely to overshadow Yellen... The tentative title is: Is Stanley Fischer again rewarded for conduct on behalf of US agencies abroad?
I would be grateful for any comment by you regarding Fischer's performance in Israel, short as it may be.
In January 2013, Stanley Fischer permitted the seizing of all my deposits in the Israeli Bank HaPoalim in Israel (where I reside after escaping from the United States in 2010), purportedly on behalf of the United States. The actions were reversed only after I sought protection by the Consul of the German Federal Republic.
My short CV is also linked below.[2]
Truly,
jz
