Twenty billion dollars. That is what the United States has given to Pakistan since 9-11.Twenty billion dollars and for what? To let the Taliban use their country as a staging and training area to kill Americans in Afghanistan and then run back over the border to Pakistan. They then have the nerve to criticize America for trying to kill the people who are killing our troops. This is outrageous and it's time we handed Pakistan their hat and coat.
Just today, two things happened that should make this country sever our relationship, if you can call only one side helping the other a relationship, with Pakistan. They fired at two of NATO's helicopters that may, and it is not yet verified, have crossed over into their country. While they are crying about two of their soldiers being wounded, they shot at our ally's military first. What did they expect? For us to let them shoot down two NATO helicopters filled with soldiers? This cannot stand.
Also today, Pakistan announced something that should have every American up in arms. After giving Pakistan over $20 billion in ten years with what looks like no strings attached, they said today that China is their "Best Friend". Is that a fact? Never have I heard a less grateful statement from a country that we have only helped at every opportunity. They harbored Osama Bin Laden in a mansion for the last five years. Do they really think we believe that the highest powers in Pakistan did not know that he was hiding in plain sight? Outrageous!
Senator John Kerry, who recently arrived in Pakistan, had to come, hat in hand, to try to get the tail section, which is highly sensitive technology, of the helicopter that went down during the operation to kill our nation's most wanted fugitive. It's been said they have offered to give it to China and even now we don't know if we will get all of it back in our possession.
Just today, Pakistan's prime minister, Yousaf Raza Gilani, traveled to Beijing to meet with Chinese leaders . It is being seen by some as a direct shot at the United States. If we don't keep up the blackmail that has been going on for more than a decade - the billions we send them each and every year - they will take their business to China. I say let them.
We are getting nothing out of our relationship with Pakistan except lies and deceit. It is time to change our relationship from being suckers to standing up and telling Pakistan we will no longer play their game. I'm betting we can find paces right here in America where those billions can be spent instead of going down the Rabbit Hole that is Pakistan!
