Urgency needs to be reserved for real crisis. We have far too much unnecessary urgency about things like the deficit and not nearly enough urgency about things like people dying for want of health care coverage. The current state of affairs in our country is a serious case of a crisis requiring urgency and no one is running around with their hair on fire. We need to see people in charge running around with their hair on fire albeit the focused, "I know what I'm doing" type of running around. People are dying for countless reasons -- no health care, no money, and in more cases than we can comprehend in foreign lands about 30000 people, most children, die every day for no other reason than extreme poverty very much connected to the same wicked problem with which we are now confronted. (Even in this rich prosperous nation we couldn't escape the wrath of the money changers.) That, by definition, if we are human, is an obvious crisis - levels of magnitude higher than what we can normally comprehend in the human understandings of suffering.
We have another crisis which compounds the first one (The first crisis includes but is not limited to: unemployment, the consequences of a recent financial meltdown, another financial meltdown likely eminent , endless war, increasing unmanageable debt, political corruption, corporate personhood, health care, energy, and environmental problems, out of touch wicked SOTUS.) Clearly things are not going well for humanity. There are no signs of analysis paralysis (Although right wing incalcitrants block anything useful -- we need to get rid of the Armageddon obsessed in our nations business. If you are worried about Armageddon go help people prepare for it while sane people deal with business.) but we may have a crisis of focus . On the other hand it seems there is consensus on a couple broad areas such that we know where the problems are -- Wall Street corruption (They can't be trusted with the nations money -- period) and government's failure to respond to the plight of its citizens. But, we have their attention -- now we need to focus on the most comprehensive and at the same time most expedient solution. In systems theory when this many things are out of control it is usually a sign there is a common cause. In most cases what seems like isolated wicked problems requiring a solution for each likely have a common cause that is solved by a cohesive comprehensive but clear and concise solution. It is surprising we don't have more systems architects and engineers helping us with this problem. It is a problem of structure, and architecture, and engineering more than a political problem. Focus on the end. What do we want the country to look like and how do we get there? If we had to focus on one thing it would the comprehensive HR 2990 and it is included in a short list below as the most impactful piece of legislation to hit the house since the constitution itself and will solve our most wicked problems.
There are 3 things that need done -- URGENTLY -- to build not only a humane world (Which with all our ingenuity should have been done long, long ago), but a thriving, vibrant nation and world. And while I hate oversimplification and what people think are speedy solutions to complex problems because there are rarely simple or speedy solutions to complexity. But, here are 3 fairly simple ready to go steps, especially HR 2990, that WILL address all the grievances we've accumulated in the last 30 years, and all the current and salient initiatives now ongoing: OWS, Get The Money Out, and the people in general. These 3 simple steps will return democracy to us very quickly and in the case of Passing bill : H.R.2990 -- National Emergency Employment Defense Act of 2011 (Introduced in House - IH) Introduced by Dennis Kucinich will completely reverse the economic failures and offer a fully democratic economic opportunity for everyone. This is a non partisan bill that will satisfy all along the political spectrum because it satisfies the social needs of the county's citizens and the smaller government wishes of conservatives. (It gets rid of taxes and keeps government out of your life as a byproduct of functional money. I don't think anyone really cares about the size of government which we will have better control over under this plan, as long as they aren't taking our money. That is conservatives real problem with government -- taking their money and they aren't alone -- no one likes it.)
The HR 2990 bill is, if not simple, is an elegant solution to a wicked root problem -- an economic financial monetary system far out of control. We know for everyone on site for OCCUPY and other causes across the country and world there are probably a hundred or more that feel the same way. We needn't wait years for change. We can't afford to wait for change. The alternative to today's savage capitalism rooted in a dysfunctional economic, financial, monetary system, can be replaced with real freedom, justice and honest, free markets almost immediately.
The 3 steps are -- And they all could be combined into 1 amendment that address the most troubling pain points we are truly suffering within the country:
- Pass the Dylan Rattigan, Get the Money Out, initiative 28th amendment.
o I would personally fully fund all elections. A new economic system specified in HR 2990 would make this easy to do.
- Pass HR 2990 which completely revamps our economic system to put it in line with democracy, freedom and justice ". And let's be clear -- NOT SOCIALISM. ( Pass this as law immediately -- if constitutional remedies are necessary later we can do that. Quick action on this bill changes your life immediately.)
- And finally include in this amendment
o Corporations are not people
o Corporations need charters for specific purposes that require specialized organization to accomplish. These charters granted by an approved by the people -- The Federal Government
If we had to pick one thing that would have immediate impact it is HR 2990. The ONLY reason for a constitutional amendment to get money out is so we can pass HR 2990 because that is where the real change lies. While this solution may not simple it is clear, concise and squarely aimed at the common cause. These 3 steps change everything as we know it. They address every concern we have including the hubristic banks. They have a great opportunity in banking services but NOT creating our money for us in such destructive and deceitful ways. They revive our democracy and bring back a vibrant creative nation designed to put the country's new money to work for all of us. Read this bill and imagine with each paragraph how it would affect the lives of your loved ones and yourself. How this action would address everyone of our grievances. This is urgent and the path to peace and prosperity NOW.
We need to return the work of creativity back to the people and facilitate it with the elements in the HR 2990 bill.
