We woke up this morning and the whiny defeatists who pass for bloggers on our side were out in full force. It is not necessary to pick on anybody in particular. If the web site action page link and toll free phone numbers above are not at the very TOP of every story on Alito, if they are not featured on every blog page in big BOLD letters, if they are not given out every 10 minutes by EVERY progressive radio personality, then YOU, that's right YOU are personally responsible for the end of democracy in America. And the more prominence you have in the progressive media, the MORE you are culpable in the crimes of the Bush regime.
When will you worthless sacks of collective crap ever get it? We didn't start out this angry and abusive, but God knows you deserve it. For 15 months (and mostly in a nice way) we've asked the same question over and over.

Go out to any progressive blog or news digest site right now at random. Have they dedicated their site to rallying people to speak out against the Alito nomination? NO THEY HAVE NOT. What you see instead are a bunch of self-absorbed pontificating losers who are too enamored of the brilliance of their own vain wise cracking to actually DO anything but shoot off their OWN mouths.
Ya wanna know how many elections you're gonna win with the votes of all progressive radio personalities and blog pundits put together. NONE. That's right (no pun intended). You guys couldn't win an election if nobody else was running and the only person voting was your mother. So we ask again.

When Paul Revere took his famous midnight ride, was his purpose to show off his magnificent riding skills? Was his purpose to have people admire his resonant shouting voice? No, his PURPOSE was to RALLY people into ACTION. OTHER PEOPLE. Do you get it yet? And that is what you must do. ALL of you. Right now without exception. Get off or your worthless inactivist asses and DO something to get OTHER people to speak out RIGHT NOW!
There are only two modes of behavior, activism and inactivism. If you publish a story and you do NOT feature the congressional toll free numbers (888-818-6641 and 888-355-3588) you are an inactivist. No matter what ELSE you say, the sub text of your story is that there is nothing we can DO about it. Even if you tell people to speak out, if you do not tell them HOW you are an inactivist. Because the sad truth is that most of the people out there have NOT called their senators on this, and if they had 10 minutes to do so and their life depended on it they could not find a number.
If you are a radio personality, and you are not giving out the toll free numbers every 15 minutes, you are an inactivist. The more you rant, if you do not tag absolutely every segment with a way for people to DO something about, the more you are doing nothing else but breeding defeatism and despair. If you do not tell people that they CAN make a difference, if you do not tell them HOW, if you do not show them the way, your subtext is that it is all over and that there nothing else we can do about it.
What kind of pathetic sickness is this? The senate will not vote on the Alito nomination for about two more weeks. What basketball team ever won a game by deciding at the end of the first quarter that it wasn't worth playing the rest of the game because they were already behind? Do you not understand that WE are the majority? Turn off your cable television. Pay no attention to corporate media propagandists who relentlessly sell you on your own defeatism. And beware that you do not become yet another mouthpiece for their siren song of apathy and trivialization. Dedicate your lives for the next two weeks to saving our country. Dedicate your lives to getting as many people as possible to call their senators.
