The confounding of antizionism with antisemitism occurs all over the world, of course, particularly here in North America where the governments of both settler-colonial states, and their supposedly progressive oppositions, have insisted on Israel's supposed right to exist as an exclusive, ethnically "Jewish" state. (Which most of the Ashkenazim of the Eastern European diaspora, as Cde Gluckstein points out, rejected.)
