If these groups of peace activists had put this much effort recently into a similar effort to get the incumbent House Democrats to at least announce impeachment hearings, our Troops would probably already be coming home.
If you want the Democrats to change their behaviour you must do something to make the Democrats more afraid of you as voters, than you the voters are of the Republicans (who originally said that? ), and not be a supplicant to the very group that ignored the peace movement on stopping the funding for the Iraq War.
Given that the Democrats have approved additional funding for the Iraq War well into 2009, it is silly for progressives to be doing a National Peace Action that is actually a get out the vote action for the very Democrats who screwed us after we worked so hard to elect them in 2006.
Why on earth are you helping them???
I fedexed a request yesterday to Leslie Cagan, National Coordinator for United for Peace and Justice to help our impeachment group organize an emergency Nationwide Action To Call For The Start Of Impeachment Hearings. We don't care who get the credit for making it happen, it just needs to get done. The UFPJ's 1,400 local groups doing a national impeachment action would have a great impact on the Democrats "this close to the election".
I hereby make the same request of all of the members of the MillionDoorsForPeace.org peace coalition, Democrats.com, AfterDowningStreet.org, ANSWER, ImpeachBush.org/VoteToImpeach.org, World Cant Wait and all other progressive groups that said they wanted to stop the Iraq War and have Bush and Cheney called to account for crimes against our Constitution.

We have until Sept 26, the proposed date of adjournment of the current House session to get the Democrats to announce the date of the start of impeachment hearings, and to extend the session or announce a special session.
It does not matter if they hold the hearings or finish the hearings prior to the election. Just that they commit to them.
It is crucial that the House Democrats are pushed to announce before the election, the date impeachment hearings will start after the election. Or it won't happen, ever.
We voters have a great deal of political power before the election to get them to move on impeachment, on holding Bush and Cheney accountable, but you have to be willing to use it to get action.We lose all that power after Nov 4.

In Colorado we are doing negative campaigning and protesting against the election of Colorado Democratic Representative Mark Udall to the US Senate. Udall has refused our final request to call for holding impeachment hearings and we intend to work to defeat him.

DeGettes District CO01, asking the Democrats.com members in CO01 to vote on whether we should continue our efforts to get impeachment or just stop.
Over 99% of the Democrats.com replies Said Yes, Impeach Them, so why aren't we raising the issue with all Democrats?
