As I was watching Meet the Press this morning I was struck by how Erin Burnette and Tom Browkaw encouraged the public not to be upset by the AIG bonuses or our losses in the stock market. I disagree. Americans do need to be angry with wall street's immorality and with government's poor record of financial regulation.
Being angry is good. That's how the public forces change in a democracy. Speak up, get angry! Express your frustration. You can do even more. If you have savings (perhaps a 401K or a 403B) with AIG, withdraw those savings. Write letters to your congressmen telling them that you support punitive taxes on AIG executives.
In regards to Erin Burnette, in the past I've heard Ms. Burnette defending Wall Street. While that frustrates me, I understand that her job is tied to Wall Street. However, she also defines herself as a journalist. As a journalist I would encourage her to remove her natural bias in favor of Wall Street.
