A controversy has arisen over the choice for this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Many are saying that it was a surprise and that they were shocked that President Barack Obama was chosen to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. I have to laugh at all of the hoopla that is going on, some are surprised, others are saying that it's too soon, and others are questioning if he even deserves it--what a farce, but their responses don't surprise me. His winning did not surprise me either, to me it was evident; I had predicted that he would win the Nobel Peace Prize before he was elected President. Perhaps the Norwegian Committee, which names the recipients saw and felt what I did.
President Barack Obama's voice rang out loud and clear before he was elected President of the United States of America, and long before winning the Nobel Peace Prize. When his voice rang out, it rang out in opposition of the Iraq war; it rang out against terrorism, it rang out in opposition of invading Iraq, something his predecessor had done. President Barack Obama's voice rang in as an advocate for peace, for disarmament of nuclear weapons, and for a nonproliferation treaty worldwide; it rang in for justice and freedom for all men and women.

I think that some people forget or fail to realize that the Nobel Peace Prize Committee was probably watching Mr. Barack Obama as he campaigned for the presidency, and watched how he captured the spirit of the American people, while inspiring people and capturing the spirit of people and nations worldwide. His voice and presence was received thunderously throughout the world, and people all over accepted him as a leader even before he was elected. His voice of integrity rang throughout the world; his luminosity as a great orator captured the world and held it spellbound. People fell in love with his unmistakable charismatic persona; his common sense and brilliance helped him defeat his opponents in a gentlemanly way. No one had ever seen the likes of a man like this before; this Africa-American person of color took the world by surprise. People still don't understand how he did what he did; they remain astounded to this day, and now winning the Nobel Peace Prize, well I guess that's just too much for them to grasp. Many critics and others who criticize don't understand the Black persona; it's magical, it's even more magical when the person is a young handsome African-American man that is brilliant, determined and has an unmistakable presence.
People must understand that this prize is named the Nobel Peace Prize for a reason. The mere fact that it is a prize of peace should tell everyone what the whole world already knows; President Barack Obama was an advocate for peace before his election to the presidency, his Presidency only strengthens his role as an advocate for greater peace.
President Barack Obama inherited two wars, one to end and the other to hunt out and destroy the Taliban. The hunt to get Osama Bin Laden and keep protecting our country does not mean that he is a warmonger like his predecessor. Protecting our country is not the same as invading a country as the Bush administration did, an administration which caused the unnecessary deaths of thousands of innocent people in Iraq, along with thousands more that were wounded and maimed for life. The Bush administration did not uplift America or the world; invading Iraq without global sanction caused the world to look at the United States of America in disfavor. This height of arrogance of George Bush also caused thousands of unnecessary deaths to our own service men and women, thousands more were severely wounded; this was not President Obama's call. President Barack Obama was left to clean up the devastation of his predecessor, who seems to have gotten away with murder.
People around the world took notice when Barack Obama's voice cried out for the people, for peace and harmony of this nation and the world. The world was watching as that same voice captured millions of people in this country to bring about change. The world watched to see if Barack Obama would be able to take back our country from the oppressive Bush administration and start changing the course of America. The world was watching him on his Inauguration Day, and they knew that this would not be an easy task, yet President Obama has begun bringing about many changes. The world was watching him then and the world continues to watch him.
Rather than constantly scrutinizing our President as some are doing, we should be better than that. President Barack Obama asked for our support, he did so before and after his election, and in his inaugural address. He asked us to work with him to elevate ourselves and this country to reach new heights, so rather than listening to outsiders who would like to see him fail, be better than that. He is changing America's image; he's quenching our thirst for change, but in order to continue, we need to be as supportive for him now as we were when we voted for him.
Don't let ignorance play a part in saying that he hasn't done enough, it's too soon or that he doesn't deserve it. Ask yourself who ignited your spirit in the first place; who fired you up to vote, and some for the first time; who made you feel more like a human being and an American more than anyone else had done in years; who gave you the promise that if we'd work with him that we could change things for the better, and who said "Yes We Can? Let's not forget that and let's not get caught up in the rhetoric of the Republican Party or other people who don't see things going fast enough; listen to the President because he will not let us down, so long as we don't let him down.
President Barack Obama has only begun, but with our help and the help of the world this man will achieve much more and bring harmony to the people in this great nation, thus helping to create harmony worldwide. I believe that he is worthy to receive this great honor of the Nobel Peace Prize because he is an advocate for peace, who continues working to create world peace, and this honor is a great incentive to continue doing great things. Let us continue putting our right foot forward, but let's follow through with our left foot until we reach this stable ground. Let's remember what President Barack Obama said; this is a prize that we all share.
