First time I heard the word "scumball" was from President George Herbert Walker Bush-- the man who appointed Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court.
Thomas Testifies before congress-- something he should be doing a lot more of
Now, the NY Times reports another example of what has become a cascade of reports of Clarence Thomas' unethical behaviors. The man is, as Bush provided us with the word, a Scumball, at the least.
Thomas has a friend whose treatment is raising a lot of questions. Real Estate Magnate Harlan Crow has done a lot of expensive kindnesses for Thomas.
Crow gave Justice Thomas a $15,000 bust of Lincoln, gave Thomas wife Virginia $500,000 to help her start a Tea-party group that has opposed Obamas health care program and Crow  helped finance a Savannah library project dedicated to Thomas. And there's more.

Crow is the son of Trammell Crow, who was the largest landlord in the US. The NY Times says those properties are worth hundreds of millions. Hard to believe it's not billions. And Crow has given a lot of money to Republican causes, including $100,000 to Swiftboat Veterans for Truth and gave $500,000 to a group that supported Dubya's appointees to the Supreme Court. It's no accident he's buddying up with scumball Thomas.

Crow. While he may not have had, yet, cases in front of the Supreme Court, his companies have had cases in front of the appellate court.

This is not just "scumbally" behavior on Thomas' part. DailyBeast points out, " Many of these gifts, as well as vacations on Crow's yachts and jets, were not disclosed, as all federal officials are required to do. "
The Times article also reports that Crow is heavily involved, spending millions of dollars on a project close to Thomas's heart. Since the money is not going directly to Thomas, reporting it is not necessary.
There's a lot more-- ties to the Koch brothers that should have led Thomas to recuse himself from Citizens United, and Earl Ofari Hutchinson reports, in his article Clarence Thomas Can Breathe a Sigh of Relief with Weiner Downfall, that Weiner was working on investigating Thomas, an investigation stymied by the Republican take-over of the house.
It's time the media put pressure on whatever powers Obama in the White House, the majority Dems in the senate and Eric Holder in the DOJ can exert to investigate Thomas and his unethical pattern of operating.
By the way. I've added a directory tag for Harlan Crow. It's a name that should be on the radar. We'd like to see a lot more articles about who he is and what he does. Comments providing info about him will be good too.
