Coulter didn't ever receive widespread condemnation when she said her only problem with Timothy McVeigh was that he didn't blow up the NY Times. That wasn't enough to stand in the way of Coulter of being a regular on Mammon's media. Nor was her endorsement of fascism or calling liberals traitors and saying that public executions were needed to intimidate liberals into obedience. Gee whiz, Time magazine gushed that she is "irresistible and influential." Time also said that Coulter is "misunderstood" and that "you can trust [she] will speak from the heart." So that is where it's coming from.
As Eric Boehlert points out in his new book "Lapdogs" Time devoted 6000 words of praise to Coulter. Time even went so far as to say that "Coulter has a reputation for carelessness with facts, and if you Google the words 'Ann Coulter lies,' you will drown in results. But I didn't find many outright Coulter errors."
In contrast, Time devoted only 3000 words to Michael Moore. Whereas the headline for Coulter's front page photo on Time read "Gleefully Making the Left Squirm," Time's headline for Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" was "Good for America?" A Time sidebar on Coulter read "Is she serious or just having fun?" The sidebar on Moore was about alleged inaccuracies in his documentary about which Time openly wondered if Moore had "recklessly" leveled allegations against President Bush.
"[T]his is horrible to say, and I wonder if I'm alone in this -- you know, it took me about a year to start hating the 9-11 victims' families? Took me about a year."
Glenn Beck, now on prime time CNN Headline News
"I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could."
Glenn Beck
On the kidnaping of peace activists in Iraq: "I'm telling you, folks, there's a part of me that likes this."
Rush Limbaugh
Regarding a victim of Hurricane Katrina who was living off federal relief: "I dare say she could walk out of that hotel and walk 100 yards in either direction on Fulton Industrial Boulevard here in Atlanta and have a job. What's that? Well, no, no, no. . . . Well, you know what? [laughing] Now that you mention it ... [i]f that's the only way she can take care of herself, it sure beats the hell out of sucking off the taxpayers."
Neal Boortz
"Why should Blacks be heard? They're 12% of the population. Who the hell cares."
Rush Limbaugh
"The only way to reduce the number of nuclear weapons is to use them."
Rush Limbaugh
Can you imagine the furor if any liberal commentator had made similar remarks? I dare say the use of tar and feathers would be restored. But of course liberal commentators haven't made similar remarks on MSM. If for no other reason they haven't had the opportunity. The playing field is not level. Hatemongers like Coulter get to vent their venom without cease on prime time television. Meanwhile, liberals can blog.
And finally, if you want to see just how far the right wing will go to demonize liberals then check out the children's picture book "Help! Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed."
I say it's high time we do something about the bias in the MSM. Freedom of speech. Use it or lose it.
