Thursday, February 1, 2024Why the Current Israeli Government Will Not Negotiate Very briefly, this column reprises several columns that I have written on the subject since 2006. During that time, most of the Israeli governments have refused to countenance any kind-of "Two-State Solution," and conditions for the Palestinian (on paper citizens of the State of Israel) have steadily gotten worse. This column reprises earlier ones and adds a bit of new material at the end. Only US pressure can change things.

Thursday, January 25, 2024Anti-Semitism, Zionism, and Anti-Zionism This column is about the terms "Zionism," "anti-Zionism," and "anti-Semitism," how they developed historically, what the have meant at different historical times. It discusses how, in the United States at least, "anti-Semitism" and "anti-Zionism" have come to be equilibrated when in modern times at least, that equilibration is not valid. However, it has proven to be very useful politically to those forces who invented it.

Thursday, January 18, 2024Response to a Commentary by Rabbi Abraham Cooper of the Wiesenthal Center on the Gaza Conflict Earlier this month, Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean and global social action director at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, published an open letter commenting on whom the responsibility for the present situation in Gaza rests. It was also highly critical of the response/commentary from various world leaders on the situation. I was invited by "The G-Man" to write a response to it. Here is a modestly emended version of it.

A) The institution of slavery and its continued expansion into the Western territories was the principal issue that caused the Civil War. B) Negotiations on the issues of slavery itself, and its expansion into the Western territories had been underway since the Constitutional Convention. (But of course, given what he reads, why should former Pres. Trump be expected to know this?

Thursday, December 14, 2023Trump, Hannity, Dictator-for-a-Day, and the Constitution of The United States The recent "Trump-Hannity-Dictator-for-a-day" TV "interview" has become widely noted and much commented upon. This column presents a commentary on it and what Trump really means by "Dictator-for-a-day." Of course provision for such a position is nowhere to be found in the Constitution. But even more importantly, Trump doesn't mean dictator-for-just-one-day. Extending it indefinitely, from that day, is what he does mean.

After describing the current facts-on-the-ground vis-a-vis Gaza-Plus, I go on to describe a seventh war for Israel, which may well occur if there is no change in the national government's policies towards the Arab peoples, domestic and foreign.

Friday, October 20, 2023On the Gaza Crisis, 2023(2): Who Benefits?" The argument that I make in this column is to me very obvious and can summarized very briefly. Who benefits? Both of the two opposing sides in the "assault on Gaza which followed an assault on Israel:" the Israeli Likudniks and the Irredentist Palestinians (sponsored by Iran), neither of which wants anything approaching a Two-State Solution.
