Saturday, April 1, 2023Trump Indicated (Ooops, I mean Indicted)" Joining the many others who are is doing it, here I comment on the indictments. I consider that: the indictments are for a variety of felonies; Weisselberg, Pecker and Clifford all came in just before they were issued and may have presented critical new evidence; since the indictments are for felonies, Trump's passport could lifted; Trump is broadly using his "7 Magic Tricks"; and Repub. commentators never say "he's innocent!"

What is also clear is that he is running first and foremost on race and racism (see the discussion of "WOKE" in the column). Friday, March 3, 2023The New York Times on Drugs; and a Proposal for REAL Drug Policy Reform Recently, The New York Times published a Statement, on drug policy. I have been working in this field for the last 50 years or so. In 2016 I published a book entitled: "End the Drug War; Solve the Drug Problem: The Public Health Approach" (PHA). In sum, I see the "drug problem" as a unity, not a duality. The Times' proposal nibbles around the edges, while the PHA proposes a comprehensive way to effectively deal with it.

Thursday, February 2, 2023The DeSantisization of Public Education, and Developing Modern Republican Policy Ron DeSantis is well on his way to becoming one of the most recognized Republican politicians in the country. And he is doing this, like Trump did, by riding on the rail of racism. But unlike Trump, whose racism was based in his emotions and the culture he grew up in, DeSantis' racism, beginning with a-history and book-banning, is developing into a much more intellectual, and therefore, in my view, a much more dangerous form.

Thursday, December 22, 2022Donald Trump, "The Stab in the Back," and the "Stolen Election" The column reviews an earlier one from the time of Weimar Germany used by the Nazis on their rise to power: "The Saab in the Back." It then goes on to compare the use of that slogan by the Nazis with the use of "Stop the Steal" by the Trumpites. It concludes with a quick review of Trump's quickly mounting troubles, which will be dealt with in some more detail in next week's column.

It is also about how the Republican Party uses the trade, rather than as a focus of celebration for getting Ms. Griner home, as an opportunity to fully, openly and clearly express its basic racism, homophobia, and anti-feminism, over and over again.

As for the Republican response to that assault, it's not because they disagree with Trump and don't want to say that out loud. It's because they agree with him about Republo-fascism, but don't want to say that out loud (yet).
