The Aries/Libra Full Moon occurs on Tuesday & Wednesday, October 11th in North America at 10:06pm Eastern/7:06pm Pacific, and October 12th at 2:06am GMT.
The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 19*Libra is: Robbers hiding in a starlit forest, ready to attack a caravan laden with precious cargo . On one level, this symbol can indicate a form of group protest like Robin Hood's cry to "steal from the rich to give to the poor'. On another level, this symbol of the starlit forest brings to mind the wonders of the imagination, where we get to pick whatever treasure attracts our attention. That "caravan of dreams' is waiting for us to take our share of the treasures of the universe.
The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 19* Aries is: A Magic carpet of oriental imagery. This is indeed a fitting symbol for using the Creative Imagination. Our standpoint in the Creative Imagination helps us to see things from a different perspective and use the Imagination to create something new. The Moon's image creates a perfect balance with the image for the Sun. Fly your carpet into the magical forest and see what happens!
Each full Moon asks us to balance two different yet complementary energies. While Libra always is in balance with another person, place or thing, Aries is self-sufficient. This Aries full Moon will have us stepping out of the creative imagination, adding our own unique "something' to the "caravan of dreams' that is making its way through the moonlight in the magical woods.
This full Moon energy can create the right balance if we can keep our own standpoint while valuing another's; if we can honor others as well as ourselves; if we agree on what is just and fair for all of us, not just a privileged few. Aries courage and ingenuity, drive and autonomy merges with Libra's understanding of love and cooperation, truth and beauty to create a new way of being, which inevitably births a new way of doing things. It takes courage to stand in our integrity with another person and trust them in theirs.
Saturn, as I mentioned earlier, is part of this full Moon energy. It can feel constrictive, which can stop us from imagining. It can fill us with fear, telling us that dreams will not come true. But if we relate to Saturn in the right way, it can help us focus our will so we can access the Creative Imagination and bring it into "reality' in a responsible way. Now the reality we bring it into will either be the old patriarchal one, which is hierarchical and commercial, or a whole new reality, one in which fairness and balance between people is the norm. Starhawk created a beautiful vision of how to live in harmony with each other and with Nature in her book The Fifth Sacred Thing. You might want to check it out, because she also insists on non-violent means to bring about peace. Very Libran of her!
As Stephanie Austin mentions in The Oct/Nov issue of The Mountain Astrologer, we are nearing the end of the Mayan calendar. Since March 9, 2011 we have been in the very last Underworld, the Universal Underworld, which deals with the completion of all cycles. That's probably why we're experiencing things moving so quickly in and out of our lives. We are processing and letting go of millennia of experiences. The Maya saw this as the end of duality consciousness and the beginning of unity consciousness. How do we hold onto our individuality in the midst of a unifying consciousness? It is not by giving up our self-awareness -- which leads to mob psychology - but by standing in our self-awareness and truth, realizing our equality and interdependence. The Aries Moon, Mars in Leo and the North Node in Sagittarius form a grand trine, a beautiful easy triangular flow of energies. The Moon's courageous motivating energy flows into Mar's creative vision and shoots up to our collective destiny point that asks us "what do you believe is True?' How will you use this beautiful gift of creative potential? Don't forget to take a moonbath on full Moon night and open yourself to visions of the possible future.
It's time to make real changes in how we live our lives. But we don't have to do it alone. We have companions along the way, for we are like the Light, both waves and particles, both unique and united. Don't be afraid to ask for help or to give it.
As Dylan sang, "The Times they are a-changing!"
Have a great month. I will think of all of you under the October Moon!
