According to the Associated Press today, " Writing violent attacks on gays into federal hate crime laws is an appropriate add-on to legislation funding the war, Democrats argued, because both initiatives are aimed at combating terrorist acts."
I was completely taken aback by this link of an emotion to a terrorist act!
Reading further on the article by Laurie Kellman of Ap, "The defense authorization is about dealing with the challenges of terrorism overseas...This (bill) is about terrorism in our neighborhood," said Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, the chief Democratic sponsor. "We want to fight terrorism here at home with all of our weapons."
Terrorism in my neighborhood? Islamic extremeists and the like running around my neighborhood beating and killing people because of race, religion, color, sexual preferences or national origin? I thought they were bigots and ignorant americans with track records of violence acting on an emotion, not terrorists.

This bill is simply a way for the "thought police" to start enforcing laws made to distract us from the real agenda they have for our future. Now don't get me wrong, I believe the crimes committed against Matthew Shepard, the whole Jena six story and others are heinous acts of bigotry to say the least! But this bill does not only cover homosexuals.
The House bill would extend the hate crimes category to include sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or disability and give federal authorities greater leeway to participate in hate crime investigations. It would approve $10 million over the next two years to help local law enforcement officials cover the cost of hate crime prosecutions.
Under current federal law, hate crimes apply to acts of violence against individuals on the basis of race, religion, color or national origin. Federal prosecutors have jurisdiction only if the victim is engaged in a specific federally protected activity such as voting.-Ap
So now, and I'm not condoning any of these crimes, however, if you slap your lover in a fit of rage, according to this bill you are a terrorist!! A terrorist punishable in Federal Court!
I personally would never hit a woman no matter what but I certainly wouldn't call someone who did a terrorist. The acts committed by these fools are indeed detestable but this bill is far more damaging to your rights than they want you to see. Hate is an emotion. An emotion is a thought that produces a feeling.
Isn't ALL violent crime towards an indiviual(s) a crime of hate? I think so. But to give your government a loophole, as the one in this bill, to call a crime a "hate crime" which comes under Federal jurisdiction is a violation of human rights. Sure you'll have stiffer punishment for these types of crimes, but as we all know they don't stick to the main portion of any bill. The Patriot Act is a shining example of how they use these laws under the pretense of terrorism to actually strip your rights away.
Everyone in government is betraying us now on both sides of the aisle! So do you think they're actually helping you as a minority? The Dem's will save us! Sure they will. Just as they've saved you so far right?
To quote Rob Kall of OpEd News: "When the Dems in the house and senate both betray progressives, where does that leave you? In the house a huge percentage of dems voted to censure moveon. Stupid, stupid, stupid. In the senate, over 20 dems vote to support the Lieberman Kyl bill to virtually authorize war with Iran. Insane betrayal."
So them "hi-jacking" this bill on something intended for the war on terrorism should be proof in the pudding that they don't give two shits about you, they merely give you rhetoric in the name of your rights and safety when in reality they're really pushing it to further their strangle-hold on your rights!!!
So mark my words America, we've now opened the doorway for 21st Century Thought Police to come knocking down your door in the name of "hate". Soon writing here on OpEd against the tyranny of the government will be a HATE CRIME!! Use your intuition and learn from our recent past. No bill or law is as it seems. The Dems are not your "messiah"! They're using you anger and frustration against you just like the Reds at the start of this hollocaust we now call Iraq!!!
