The alternative media become all the more important as the lamestream media allow themselves to go down the toilet. They're helping us. I put on CNN this morning and ther's Alex Baldwin- again. I switch to MSNBC-- a review of the history of Scott Pederson's murder of Laci. Pathetic. No news. That's what "They" want-- the people who are tearing down America, breaking laws.

This is a slow fundraising month. We need your help. You know you're not getting the news from CNN. You get it here, at OpEdNews. We comb through the garbage, the BS and fluff, the distractions and entertainment and cover the real news that you need to know about and we do a great job doing it. We need your help. Donate Today. Your contribution really does make a difference.

Time To Impeach Cheney

This week, Dennis Kucinich is supposed to introduce legislation to impeach Cheney. The Vermont senate passed a bill to impeach Bush and Cheney. It is widely expected that Gone-zales will resign. But Bush still supports him. I hope he keeps it up. The longer Gonzales stays in the forefront, the better for the cause of impeachment. But we need to start the process of cleaning the overflowing toilet that is the Whitehouse. And it is essential to start with Cheney. Impeach him, then block approval of a replacement. Then impeach Bush and hello president Pelosi.

Visualize that. Tell your member of congress to get on it. April 28 is Impeachment day. I'll be out, getting petitions signed that day.

Have a great one,

Rob Kall

Cable News: I Long For The Days Of "We Now Resume Normal Broadcasting"
It used to be if there was a major news story, the networks would break into regular programs with breaking news. They did straight reporting of the facts and did not look to dissect the story similar to a science student dissecting a frog in class. When they had nothing else to offer us, they would say, "We now resume normal broadcasting" and only break in if new events occurred.

If Gonzales has not resigned by the time you read this, please contact your members of Congress and push them to speak out, to tell Gonzales it's time to go. Along The Gulf Coast, Post-Katrina, Part 1: Pascagoula

While endless billions of dollars disappear down the black hole of destruction and profiteering that is Iraq, the real needs of the American people are being grossly ignored along the Gulf Coast, which is still reeling from the vast destruction caused by Katrina. Here are the first of a series of photo albums that highlight the lingering devastation.

Pakistan Army Suffered 700 Killed Vs. Taliban
Vice President Dick Cheney keeps urging Islamabad to go after the Taliban who rule the border provinces along Afghanistan but Pakistan's military dictator knows if he does, he'll lose. The only way to bring lasting peace to the region is to have democratic elections, and the dictator is afraid to hold them. In short, Pakistan is on the brink. All this from The Nation magazine.

GINSBURG'S DISSENTING VIEW WILL PREVAIL ON ABORTION RULING
The Republican far right's celebration over the Supreme Courts recent decision regarding partial birth abortion will be short lived ~ for Justice Ginsburg's fervid dissent framed the abortion question in the far broader constitutional context of women's equality rather than privacy. This is an argument that will isolate the far right and should draw a fifth Justice once the compelling legal arguments are framed and made.

Factory Jobs: 3 Million Lost Since 2000
WASHINGTON - Three weeks ago, Dawn Zimmer became a statistic. Laid off from her job assembling trucks at Freightliner's plant in Portland, Ore., she and 800 of her colleagues joined a long line of U.S. manufacturing workers who have lost jobs in recent years. A total of 3.2 million - one in six factory jobs - have disappeared since the start of 2000.

Ginsburg's Dissent May Yet Prevail
IN THE LONG RUN, the most important part of the Supreme Court's ruling on "partial-birth" abortions may not be Justice Anthony M. Kennedy's opinion for the majority. It might well be Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's dissent, which attempts, for the first time in the court's history, to justify the right to abortion squarely in terms of women's equality rather than privacy.

Lawmakers Rail Against Halliburton/ KBR War Profiteering
"Profiteering during wartime is inexcusable," said Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., testifying at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing. "This is the most significant waste, fraud and abuse we have ever seen in this country." Lawmakers and the U.S. inspector general have accused KBR, formerly a division of Halliburton Co., which was once headed by Shooter Cheney, of a $2 billion overcharge supplying US troops in Iraq.

Paul Krugman | The Plot Against Medicare
The plot against Social Security failed: President Bush's attempt to privatize the system crashed and burned when the public realized what he was up to. But the plot against Medicare is faring better: the stealth privatization embedded in the Medicare Modernization Act, which Congress literally passed in the dead of night back in 2003, is proceeding apace. Worse yet, the forces behind privatization not only continue...

Unless Republicans offer their testimony voluntarily, Waxman's committee will consider issuing subpoenas for: * Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for testimony about her role in President Bush's now discredited claim that Iraq was seeking to obtain uranium from Niger; * Former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card for his testimony in regard to the leak of former CIA operative Valerie Plame's name to the press...
