Over the past couple of years, the tea party has been so vocal and screamed their blind obedience to the GOP/corporate agenda that it has made them seem larger than they actually are and the Koch brothers style agenda more widely supported than it actually is.
There is more than this one poll to support the fact that a majority of Americans can actually tell right from wrong. The 60 minute/Vanity Fair poll also saw taxing the rich (81%) as the fairest way to fix the financial mess that wall street and the banks created.
Maybe now the timid democrats will realize the aggressive tactics and greedy policies of the right are simply the tactics of a loud minority and our compromising president will be emboldened to actually support the will of a majority of Americans rather than caving to the demands of the wealthy, the corporations and their toadies the GOP.
I like the analogy I heard recently. A dozen cookies are baked for america. Corporations take 11 and then warn the tea party that union workers are trying to take their cookie.
One of the reasons this corporate deception has succeeded, is the creation (without most of the members knowledge) of the tea party by the billionaire Koch brothers and billionaire Rupert Murdoch and his fox networks active support of all things GOP and corporate. It also didn't hurt that fox has run so many lies and fear generating fantasies that have stoked the fires of paranoia and hate in the more ignorant americans who get their world views and political beliefs from unstable people like Glenn Beck. The good news is that fox has been caught lying so many times that more and more americans understand what fox really is.
It is heartening to find that so many Americans understand what has caused the economic meltdown and the lurch toward fascism by the far right. Now if our president will just realize that the racist, xenophobic, paranoids that have been driving the GOP to the right have no interest in fairness or compromise and start standing for the people who elected him. President Obama, please put on those comfortable shoes you spoke of and march with the majority of Americans. Stop allowing this loud obnoxious minority and their corporate masters to dictate policies that will destroy the middle class and our economy.
