I saw Obama yesterday
At a town hall meeting
His supporters were all there
They were giving him a greeting
Yes I can, Yes we will
In a mindless chant
They yelled on command
In a choreographed rant
Up stood three men
A banner they unfurled
What about the black community
The crowd nearly hurled
They tried to shout them down
But Obama was gracious
He called for everyone to be civil
His hope was audacious
He said let him finish
His normal stump speech
They can ask a question
If they just let him preach
The mob would have jumped them
If he gave them the word
Some town meeting
The notion is absurd
They got to ask one question
I thought he was gonna pee
They spoke of the issues in the black community
He knew where this was going'
"I was a civil rights lawyer,"
He wouldn't be contrite.
"I spoke about these issues,"
He named three sound bytes
He would not frame these issues
In the way that they wanted
"Vote for someone else,"
He tried to seem undaunted
You can run yourself
Raise 5 million a day
I ain't no socialist
I don't want to play
Yes I can, Yes we will
For the people of wealth
So just let me go on
With my usual stealth
