Burma: Buddhist monks begin a new demonstration

About 50 Buddhist monks gathered to begin a new demonstration in Sittwe, Rakkhine State, at approximately 2pm on 13 September 2008. However they were dispersed by security forces while they were still gathering at Way Thar Lee stadium. It has not been possible to get confirmation of how monks many were arrested.
Last year, 18 September 2007, Buddhist monks led a massive pro-democracy demonstrations .
The military opened fire on demonstrators on 26 September and many monks and laypeople were killed.
