The President of the Shadow of the United States

Raechel Gwyn
Shadow laws
under cracking
water
only the sitting
president will land
in loving arms

followed by so
many other shadows

absorbed by shadows
half-rubbed into
middle earth

cursing the cursed
their unspirits rise
to be pulled out
of the fields
during harvest time

and the poor
shall be forced
to live in infamy
from soil that can't
be cleansed or ripped
or peeled away

the moistening fog
of religion
