For decades we have heard media noise that our public schools are terrible, our children underperform, and our teachers and their unions are ruining our economy. "These self-styled “reformers” have sensationalized selected scores on standardized tests to manufacture a narrative of catastrophe, and have used that narrative to distract us from the real crises of poverty, racism, and growing inequality facing our public schools." A group of educators who oppose the current corporate reforms have organized a petition drive: "A Manifesto for a Revolution." Ravitch says: To bring about the change we hope for, we need even more activism. Please read it and if you agree, consider signing on."
