Sinkhole: H-Bomb explosion equivalent in SE Louisiana possible

A large sinkhole appeared suddenly on Thursday in a southern Louisiana bayou. It has swallowed 100-foot-tall cypress trees and prompted evacuations. A possible breach of a butane-filled well 1500 feet from the sinkhole, now the size of three football fields, is "very serious." Local residents ordered to evacuate are worried about a catastrophic explosion. According to scientists in an Examiner investigation, an explosion could be in the range of one and a half B83 thermonuclear (hydrogen) bombs, the most powerful United States weapons in active service.
