"This election is all about the Supreme Court that will shape our lives for the next 30 years, but many don’t seem to truly grasp their central importance! In the last decade it has made it much harder to challenge wealth and power, to nurture the weak and assist the poor, to extend social justice, stop discrimination & reduce violence, & to defend the right to vote. During the next 4 years, the new president will likely nominate 4 new justices who will set the direction of the SC and the values that guide it for the next generation. SC decisions reach into every aspect of our lives. The very structure of how we govern, our ability to elect progressive candidates and enact progressive policies is determined by their interpretation of the constitution and legal precedents. Many progressives intensely disagree with Clinton on many issues, but The future of the Supreme Court is at stake."
