Do not permit yourself to be kidded. The very same kinds of politics
that invade private enterprise are equally represented in our school
systems, public works departments, . . . everywhere. The only real
protections that conscientious employees have are those contained in the
contracts negotiated by organized labor. Remove those protections and
you've got a system that will be run amok.
Not may be, will be. That's because, within every organization are those
few who play to the highest paying bidder. Republicans seek to have it
no other way. The House has already passed a bill that, while funding
NASCAR benefits, eviscerates funding for our watchdog agencies.
Regardless it may sound trite, cliched, we really are all that stands
between good and evil. This moment, this hour, it's either stand up . . .
