JB: This is similar in principle to what you brought back with you and started in your own neighborhood, starting with your own home. Explain, please.
TP: Yes. I looked at our alley and thought it was a wasted, ugly space. I painted a mural of the front of my house on the garage door. Fortunately, my neighbors liked it.
JB: It's incredibly cheery and bright and so welcoming. In short, such a huge improvement over a standard, boring garage door. Why wouldn't your neighbors like it?! You didn't stop there, though. What happened next?
TP: No, my neighbor across the alley asked me to paint hers. She's a very positive and upbeat person and wanted something to reflect it, so we decided on sunflowers.

JB: Cool! How was that one received?
TP: Very well. Another neighbor of the alley asked for a cafe scene, which I see as a combination of a decades old cafe in Alexandria Egypt, called Trianon and Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. They were both places I went to with friends during magical times in my life. The river is the Nile and the Mississippi.
I wanted to incorporate the vines and the windows in my design.

JB: You've taken a typical, boring alley space and turned it into a destination! How many of your neighbors have signed on to this and how long has the project taken so far?
TP: I started in mid July, 2019 and worked until it got too cold in mid-October. I did eight in my alley and one in the alley one block south.
