-Mark Twain (a.k.a. Samuel Clemens)
Maybe President Obama was correct when he uttered, "Poor folks clutching on to their guns and bibles." Not that I'm a huge fan of the current president. Again, I believe all of these people are on the hook and are on the same team. But those words do resonate with me. It tells me that people are more willing to allow fear and hate-mongering propaganda to control their daily lives instead of logic and reason. These very same folks will then vote against their own best-interests and put a Republican in the House... or even worse: White House or Supreme Court.
My case and point is a guy I see daily. He walks up and down Shattuck Boulevard here in Berkeley, California. He is a Republican. I know this because, one morning, he came charging down the boulevard's sidewalk (I call this guy 'Turbo-Terminator' because he walks like the Terminator, like he's tracking something down; like [Halloween's] Michael Myers on methamphetamine and is late for a hot date with his sister Lorie Strode.), with a large laser-photo image of Ronald Reagan on a t-shirt. I commented to him that he had "balls" for wearing that t-shirt in Berkeley, of all places. Sort of like a guy wearing the same-type t-shirt, only with Bill Clinton's face on it, and that person existing in Houston, Texas at the time. I mention this Class-A, Numero-Uno, Idiot because he is the epitome of what I speak of concerning those poor folks who vote against their very own best-interests.
I watch as this anti-socialist attempts bumming cigarettes off homeless street kids, daily! That's right! A guy, who is anti social programs is asking kids who are panhandling (something he no doubt abhors) for a cigarette... for free?! Oh, and another thing about this Cat is, he is on Social Security and lives in "Section-8 housing." That's right. This "Pull-Yourselves-Up-By-Your-Bootstraps" (even if you have no bootstraps or even boots to put bootstraps on) Republican is taking cash from the Federal Government to live on! And, he's bumming cigarettes off homeless people, too!
That's it in a nut shell! That's a perfect metaphor and analogy of how the Republican Party keeps its authority and how they keep us all under their control.
