We need to shift humanity to the next stage of civilization, to a stage where power over is replaced by power with, where the hard power of domination is replaced by the soft power of attraction. Where domination is replaced by cooperation and sharing. We all have within us the better angels of human nature. It's in our genes.
Some people, particularly the narcissists and sociopaths, may have to be weeded out, their power taken away. Taking away power will be an important part of the healing we must undergo. We must weed out the remnants of patriarchy. We must weed out the teachers and preachers of selfishness and self-righteous entitlement that have become facilitators of the authoritarian mental illness that afflicts our culture.
Before civilization, our hunter-gatherer predecessors would have treated authoritarians as insane. We must start doing the same.
