Not like night and day. But greatly tilting the table of the world away from hostility and warfare. Just as Bush became enemy # 1 in the Islamic world (what was it, about 2 or 3 percent of Egyptians had a favorable impression of the United States under Bush, compared with majorities there in the past), so Obama has the potential to gain credibility with the Arab world as someone together with whom good things can be created.

Not that it will be easy, with the war in Iraq to wind down and the conflict between Israelis and Arabs creating such a strain with Islamic and Arabic peoples.

But Obama has the vision operating to see the huge opportunity that he can create. Powerful creativity operating here, whether it originates in him or he simply has the good and deep judgment to appreciate it when it is presented to him. Either way, a very positive omen for his presidency.

An omen to join all those other omens that have been presented along the way.

Relations with the Muslim world aside, what this shows is a capacity for marrying the visionary with the creative to find the path that yields the most powerfully constructive impact on the world. The team that comes up with this move will have a lot of other good moves besides.

Smart and godly.

A good omen indeed.
