Thanks, Joan. I really want to
encourage people to get involved. We have more unity of purpose and more
organization that we are aware. We have everything we need to make a
paradigm shift away from corporate power and toward people power. The
corporate media is not going to cover the advocates for justice doing the real
work but we are out here. There are lots of Americans working for the
necessities of the people, a fair economy and for an end to American
empire. We are more networked than ever before, more aware, more in
touch. Corporate power looks invincible and they are powerful, but
organized people can overcome them.
When I spoke at a single payer conference this weekend, one activist asked me
about whether there was a chance for success not only on health care but on
other issues. I described the breadth and depth of progressive advocacy
-- which is greater than we think; and the urgent crisis' that the nation and
world are facing and said that our ultimate success was inevitable. But,
because the corporate media does not cover what we are all doing we are like
termites in the wall. We are eating away and they do not want to
acknowledge our existence. Some day, sooner than we realize, the walls
will come tumbling down and the end of corporatism will come -- the impossible
will become the inevitable as it always does.
By the way, our watchdog campaign, Protect
Our Elections, has put out rewards of $100,000 for information leading to
the arrest and conviction of Karl Rove and Tom Donohue, the CEO of the Chamber
of Commerce. So, spread the word to people who might know insiders so they can
become heroes of democracy rather than being criminals.
