Perhaps the mayor of Ventspils, Aivars Lembergs, was right, stating in an interview with LTV (Latvijai un Ventspilij) that "the North Atlantic Alliance is in fact a business project, but Latvian economy is not involved in it. Only cafes, restaurants and prostitutes gain profit from the presence of NATO troops in Latvia."
