Given the evidence of these videos it was believed that Cardona should be included in all of the official investigations into Bologna's actions and that he should immediately be taken off of the streets to prevent further acts of violence by the ranking officer. Friday's attack on Rivera-Pitre demonstrates clearly that this action was necessary and this incident could have been avoided had the NYPD reviewed the video evidence and policed itself.
Before attempts are made to arrest Rivera-Pitre the authorities should be compelled to officially review this evidence of Cardona's pattern of behavior and his repeated unprovoked assaults on peaceful citizens exercising their First Amendment rights on the streets of New York. In the interests of public safety Cardona should be supsended pending investigation or at least removed from his participation in the streets of the City relating to the Occupy Wall Street movement.
