Obama is confident; he went to work as community organizer, earning the lowest salary instead of choosing the easiest path, that of a highly paid prestigious Wall Street lawyer. If Obama lived in Europe and made such a choice as the one he made in the United States, he wouldn't have ever been able to rise to the level he is at today. This is not possible elsewhere BUT in America.
Obama is very strong, tough leader with a good personality. A good person should NEVER question his patriotism, contrary to his opponent John McCain. We ALL love our country. Despite the image of America having become tarnished over the last years because of Bush/Cheney's adventurism and corporate-driven exploits internationally, many people around the world still respect and admire America. Contrary to some pundits, Obama wants to restore the "last best hope for America."- I have no doubt America is the place for opportunities and we can already see the impact of the US economy on the international scene.
If taxing should represent patriotism (1) or the way of redistributing the income to the least by increasing taxes or incomes over 250K, then we should not argue against paying higher taxes. Warren Buffet, a great philanthropist of our times, is the leader in the field.
(1) Patriotism supporting argument -NYT article well and simply described by Thomas L. Friedman-:

Second, on foreign Policy, Obama's leadership will ensure National Security through independence on foreign oil. He will give incentives only to green activities and companies investing in United States as opposed to those exporting jobs overseas.
Third, Obama's Health Care plan will protect middle class from high costs of health insurance. Compared to most industrial countries, America remains the country where people are still victims of healthcare bankruptcy. Compared to Belgium, for example, where individuals are covered even when unemployed, in United States you have to pay your own healthcare when you lose your job. Who can afford it when everything is so expensive and gas prices are high for the household?
