It's worth noting that some countries have expressed interest in reestablishing ties with Syria in order to play a role in resolving the conflict and promoting stability in the region. However, they are weighing the potential economic and political benefits against the risk of incurring the wrath of the US and its allies.
Embracing Syria is a win for Iran as it allows Iran to expand its regional influence, protect its economic interests, and challenge its rivals in the region. While it is true that the Middle East is moving away from the US as the US focuses on other arenas such as Ukraine, and China and Taiwan, embracing Assad could be a mistake as well as ultimately it is a deeper embrace of Iran.
