The problems of exceptionally high unemployment, mounting foreclosures and bankruptcy continues, as well as job outsourcing and manufacturing continuing to flow to 3 rd world countries further decimating our diminishing the middle class.

The environment will remain hostage to Neanderthal minded deniers of human caused global warming. Domestic oil and gas drilling and fracking operations will rise exponentially despite the disastrous consequences of damaging underground aquifers. Then there's the BP type offshore oil spills that is just a harbinger of worse accidents to happen.

These are just some of the issues facing this country that not only won't be dealt with but will hardly be mentioned by our current politicos at these conventions.

It's basically a rigged game all but certain to continue.

The "Occupy" movement identified and articulated our morass, most poignantly as the 1% exploiting the 99%. That idea connected with the people, remains alive and won't die despite the removal of the activist's public encampments.

Perhaps "things" must get worse before radical change can be brought about. From here, that's pretty much assured.

Couple all the above (with apologies for not alluding to the many other issues in this short piece) with the expansion of our own national security state and surveillance procedures i.e. the coming use of domestic drones, security cameras, cell phone message and internet monitoring et al, we seem to be moving ever closer to outright authoritarianism.

For some people, they believe we've already reached that point.
