2.9 million homes were in foreclosure last year and big bother media excoriates the victims and laments the poor struggling banks. The right blames Barney Frank and the left blames George W. Bush and all sides seem to forget that these aren't just numbers or buildings, these are people's lives. This little boy will never get to be eleven years old again and his experience is a more severe example of what is going on daily in America and yet there are worse examples still.

Perhaps I have a soft spot in my heart for Cross because I too have lost a home and I too have been unable to support myself. I have felt that helplessness and I have made those phone calls for help only to be told that I don't qualify for this reason or that.

The other day I was reading one of my favorite news sites and there was a headline that questioned whether Republican Rick Perry could obtain an erection due to a cocaine habit. I thought to myself could Rick Perry's political positions be so concrete and inviolate that we have no other grounds of attack? On another website they had photo shopped Dick Cheney into a Conan the Barbarian outfit, Yeah that's showing em! Take that Dick Cheney! You're a war criminal and your actions have harmed millions of lives around the world but boy, have I got a funny picture of you!

The President will propose over the Labor Day weekend a Republican supported jobs program that amounts to corporate slavery where the unemployed work for their unemployment checks and corporations will derive free labor. Another Obama program suggests that the federal government renovate 290,000 government homes in foreclosure and then sell them to Real Estate Investment trusts. The program claims that it will help to stabilize the Real Estate market by converting more than a quarter of a million private homes to rental units owned by banks.

It makes me so damn mad that you ought to see the derogatory picture I've drawn of the President. I'll show him he can't get away with this! This country is in fact a corporate one party state with two wings. It is a government which has abandoned its people to the vicissitudes of fate, it has neither care nor concern for the people's suffering.

The answer to this crisis is neither funny pictures nor song and dance. If someone were waiting outside your door to take your prosperity and force your children into poverty, what would you do? If that someone were waiting down the street with the same goals, what would you do? If they were sitting in a board room a few miles away, what would you do?

Would you show your assailants a funny picture or sing them a funny song? How long then? How many people must be broken and families shattered for increased profit potential, How long must we adhere to a system which treats our people as cattle and pits them in co*k fight's against each other. A system where money is esteemed higher than love or family or age, a system which treats our families as refuse and a drain on corporate profits, where all life is considered a drain on corporate profits even schools and sickness, youth and old age.

How long then must we live in the jungles of social Darwinism and how long then before "The Miserable Ones" become the angry ones. When funny pictures are replaced by angry shouts and foreclosures are replaced by refinancing and bank bonuses are replaced with jail sentences.

"If this paper is wet it's because I am crying so bad. You know your dad loves you more than anything,"   "There are many, many great years ahead for you. Not so for me.-- -- Steven Cross

I who am I? Born at the pinnacle of American prosperity to parents raised during the last great depression. I was the youngest child of the youngest children born almost between the generations and that in fact clouds and obscures who it is that (more...)
