7.) I want folks to steer away from the pure-fantasy road that leads them to gullibly wander into the belief they can pay ever diminishing taxes yet still drive on good roads, be served by well-staffed and equipped emergency services, have a wonderful education system, enjoy well-maintained parks, safe air routes, well inspected foods and drugs . . . and everything else that leads to a functioning civil society. Similarly, I want folks to quit thinking they have no social obligation to anyone but themselves, and that any taxes they're asked to pay are too many and too much.
A weird thing: All seven items on my wish list are attainable. And most are both readily and easily so. We can do this, every one of us. What I don't understand is why we're not even trying. So Santa, why not . . . this year? I'll even have some hot toddy waiting for you. Uhh, the cookies . . . they're mine.
