The Duke lacrosse players (who are White) had all charges against them dropped, charges that were brought about by a Black woman, and summarily exposed to be fraudulent and deceitful. Where are Jackson and Sharpton in this case? Are we to expect a press conference in North Carolina with these men validating the innocence of the Duke players? After all, this was clearly a case where race was involved, as evidenced by both the complainant and the (possibly soon-to-be-disbarred) District Attorney. While the students are now free to move on with their futures, their lives are forever changed, and to a large extent tarnished, by the false accusations against them. Yet even though this case is infinitely more serious than Imus' comments, where is Jackson's moral outrage, especially given the fact that the accuser herself will not be tried. Interestingly, there is also no sign of Sharpton, despite the prevalence of Carolina BBQ. Despicable.
A CBS Corporation Director and former head of the NAACP, Bruce Gordon, called for Imus' firing, stating that “We should have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to what I see as irresponsible, racist behavior.” Gee, Bruce, I was unaware that you were the standard by which all things “irresponsible and racist” should be measured. Well, if that's the case, let's throw in “sexist” too.
So here is what I now expect to see from you, Gordo: an immediate denunciation of all comedians, hip-hop “artists” and rappers who, in their “art”, advocate the killing of police, describe women as “bitches” and “ho's” (in addition to numerous other sexually graphic and depraved depictions), and continue the widespread use of the “N” word. Not to mention the anti-White songs.
Wait, didn't someone else recently use the word “ho” in a joke, albeit an unfunny one?
Based on Bruce's “zero tolerance”, I would certainly expect that none of the radio stations in the CBS Radio Network would ever play music containing such disparaging lyrics.
Except, Bruce, they do. Perhaps in your rant against Imus, you simply overlooked that fact.
Or, perhaps, you don't think that those lyrics should be classified as “racist” or “sexist”. A clarification
from you would be helpful, since CBS Radio is the “largest radio group in the US”, according to your website.
We'll hold our breath, Mr. Gordon.
