Steve Bannon is the principle strategist and advisor to President Trump and has enormous influence over his 'boss'-- a man with zero political experience who doesn't even read books. Therefore when Bannon said he intends to "deconstruct the Administrative State" we should take him seriously. We should also note there is presently no way to check his influence on a president who, at minimum, is politically naà �ve.
The major threat facing America is not terrorism or Iran or even North Korea. The major threat to American freedom is now internal -- from a faction called the Republican Party. Preserving the values of equality and democracy is now in doubt and approaching a crisis situation. It's time to listen to the advice of another president historians say was our most insightful in a time of crisis and realize how accurate he is for our own time. Abraham Lincoln gave the following Address before the Young Men's Lyceum of Springfield, Illinois and entitled it "The Perpetuation of our Political Institutions:"
"Is it unreasonable then to expect, that some man possessed of the loftiest genius, coupled with ambition sufficient to push it to its utmost stretch, will at some time spring up among us? At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.
