Everybody lost, but especially the American people. They got handed the bill, and though it won't come due, even in most of our lifetimes, there will be a price to pay to us all.
Our children will pay the price for these criminal acts by a few predators who deserved to go to jail, but didn't. If they had, perhaps trust could have been restored.
And clearly, trust has not been restored to this day. The banks don't trust each other, they still think singularly, and without any kind of "moral compass". Added to this equation, now they don't trust the government. And the people don't trust any of them. We are awash in distrust.
I remember a day when people would help each other out during a crisis. That day is long gone, now I see only greed, and more greed. Strangely, people will react this way, even as they incur immense losses. There is a drought of trust.
So onward we trudge toward a "New World Order", of repression, and denial... negativism, yes even slavery...an archaic idea that has it's roots hundreds of years ago.......when we could create and enjoy a "New World View" and become productive and positive again.
Who will lead us in this new direction? I don't know. I do know that the system we have now is not conducive to that kind of change.
We are once again tumbling down toward "bad things". I hope we will make decisions that can be changed if we make the wrong ones. After all 50/50 is not very good odds, so we are sure to make mistakes.
Even the gamblers (investment bankers) who got us here hedged their bets. Guess who is sitting pretty now, and who is sucking wind??? They caught a break, and a get out of jail card. Did that change their ways? Nope. They are still playing the same game. They got no punishment for what they did, so they are doing it again.
