We boastful, television-bound Americans, as well as the world, need a robust, million per year American World Service Corps National Service (AWSCNS) Congressional Program to address world problems peacefully, understand needs, and to test our can-do mettle.
In this hopefully triumphant era of "Getting along better with the Russians," shouldn't we update the Gorbachev inspired Perestroika (reconstruction) and Glasnost (openness)?
Now, a generation after Gorbachev's revolution and the dissolution of the Soviet Union, shouldn't we openly reform our habits so that we address world needs with peaceful platoons that destroy evils and weaknesses more cost effectively than have war machines?
When the Big Dealer of all these solar systems threw us on this "tiny pea, pretty and blue," as Apollo astronaut Neil Armstrong called it, He/She/It dealt Americans a sweet and well-stocked special hand.
To continue holding a sweet hand and remain a special land, we'd better live the wise words of the Chinese philosopher and warrior, Sun Tzu, more than those of boastful propagandists like Adolph.
And remember that poker player's Twainish words:
"Travelis fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."
So, why not play the poker player's loaded hand and reintroduce then Congresswoman Boxer's HR1807 and also introduce the American World Service Corps National Service (AWSCNS) Congressional Proposal?
Subdue enemies by making friends. It works without costing much in dollars or blood.
