Finally, I should also tell you that the front cover of the dust jacket on Agnes Collard's new 2025 book Open Socrates prominently features a multi-colored image of Socrates, credited on the inside back flap of the dust jacket to Van Lanigh, a Russian artist based in the Netherlands who had a tough chidhood.
Now, the classicist Eric A. Havelock in his landmark 1963 book Preface to Plato, mentioned above, characterizes the Homeric Mind as imagistic. By contrast with the Homeric Mind, the Platonic Mind, according to Havelock is more abstract. Even though Plato was Socrates' student, and even though Plato memorialized his former oral teacher in many of his famous dialogues, nevertheless perhaps it is prudent for us to interpret the historical Socrates as perhaps a wee bit closer in spirit to what Havelock characterizes in his 1963 landmark book as the Homeric [oral and imagistic] mind than to the Platonic [literate and abstract] Mind.
Now, in a number of my recent OEN articles, I have drawn attention to the Swiss psychiatrist and psychological theorist Carl Gustav Jung's distinction between "Two Kinds of Thinking" in his key book Symbols of Transformation, translated by R. F. C. Hull, second edition (1967, pp. 7-33; orig. ed., 1912, under a different title): (1) fantasy thinking involving images and associative thinking; and (2) directed thinking involving logic.
Now, in the pornographic movie Dreamquest (2000), starring the extremely popular 5'3'' tall Jenna Jameson (born on April 9, 1974; with measurements of 36-22-33), and 5'9" tall Asia Carrera (born on August 6, 1973; with measurements of 36C-26-36), the evil ruler has captured fantasy, and Jenna's job is to rescue fantasy from the evil ruler. In Jenna Jameson's active years as a pornographic actress, the seductive Jenna helped millions of young boys and men of all ages rescue their fantasy lives by becoming their favorite fantasy girl to f*ck.
Of course, all porn videos that are free on the internet feature fantasy skits. So, porn videos are designed to free fantasy lives of millions of young boys and men of all ages by giving them wonderfully seductive fantasy girls to fantasy f*ck.
Incidentally, Jenna Jameson and Asia Carrera also star in the pornographic movie Satyr (1996).
Now, I should establish the context in which Jung himself came to refer to fantasy thinking involving images and associative thinking. For a period of years, Jung engaged in the dangerous self-experiment with what he came to refer to as active imagination - a kind of free-wheeling meditation in which he allowed powerful images from his unconscious to rise to his consciousness. This practice is dangerous because such unconscious images can overpower and indeed overthrow one's ego-consciousness, thereby producing a psychotic break. Jung was aware of this danger. Consequently, to safeguard himself from having a psychotic break, he worked diligently to process what he had experienced after each experience of what he came to refer to as active imagination. Jung first recorded in writing in his so-called Black Books his recollections of the images and other experiences he had had during his dangerous practice of active imagination. Subsequently, Jung further processed certain materials he had experienced from his unconscious by making works of art and drawings of certain images in his so-called Red Book.
Joan Chodorow gathered Jung various writings about active imagination together in the book titled Jung on Active Imagination (1997).
I am relieved to report that Jungian psychotherapists today no longer use the dangerous practice of active imagination in their practice of psychotherapy.
If my interpretation of the historical Socrates here as being closer in spirit to what Havelock refers to as the Homeric [oral and imagistic] Mind than to the Platonic [more abstract] Mind is cogent and correct, then the mind of the historical Socrates is closer in spirit to what Jung referred to as fantasy thinking involving images and associative thanking that to what Jung referred to as directed thinking involving logic - even though for all practical purposes the historical Socrates was essentially literate, as Havelock uses this term.
However, the historical Jesus, preaching in the Jewish homeland where his fellow Jews had written scriptures in their phonetic alphabet, was essentially an oral preacher and teacher - that is, he was not essentially a literate person.

As a matter of fact, in many of my other recent OEN articles, I have also discussed what Jung referred to as fantasy thinking involving images and associative thinking in connection with heterosexual porn videos that are available free on the internet - which feature fantasy skits and vivid and graphic images of women performing sex acts for the fantasizing viewing pleasure of the men watching them perform sex acts who are invited to use their associative thinking to associate themselves with the lucky guy(s) in the porn video who is (or are) f*cking the woman whose images in on the screen.
Ah, but is it important, for example, for young boys and men of all ages who watch the charming Mandy Flores, mentioned above, perform in her porn videos that are available free at the porn website XNXX to understand that they are thereby engaging their fantasy thinking involving images and association thinking? Mandy Flores identifies as bisexual, but the vast majority of her porn videos that are available free on the internet are heterosexual, although she has done a couple of girl-girl videos.
