Once upon a time, Democrats seemed to represent the best interests of the people at least a bit more authentically than the Republicans.
.
That time is over, with now BOTH parties competing for the campaign funds and influence to gain and hold office, and BOTH parties thereby indenturing themselves to large and powerful moneyed interests, requiring them to compete in providing the more effective lying, the baser treachery, the more cruel domestic economic and social hardships, and the historically disgraceful foreign slaughter to service their real masters.
.
In the 2008 election, Obama refused federal campaign funding because he could get more from private interests. It's now payback time, at our expense.
.
For 2012, Obama's objective is to raise his private campaign funding to a historical high of a BILLION DOLLARS. We can expect also a historically high level of bullshit and subsequent treachery to satisfy this obligation to his masters, which of course WE WILL PAY off in economic hardship and slaughterous treachery.
.
This is not a matter of partisanship, neither party competing for actually decent representation of the people's best interests but at best to be perceived as the "lesser-evil" choice.
.
The most perplexing issue here is why the electorate has not caught on to BOTH the Republicans and Democrats selling them out. How much longer can it take? How much more economic distress? How much more constitutional abuse? How much more slaughter?
.
Now Obama has announced a troop reduction in Afghanistan, but sources in his own government allow that when and how much is uncertain. The modest number being tossed about is 10,000, which if in fact such would happen, constitutes a small fraction of the forces now in place, with the remainder being several times the number that Bushco left in place, as we embark into the ELEVENTH YEAR of the WAR OF LIES on the other side of the world.
.
The questions remain: How can this treachery and slaughter ever end? How many more years will it take for the variously bamboozled or inert electorate to rise to their own best interests? Why have our churches not made an issue of our body politic misrepresenting the dictates of their Prince of Peace? Must the decent governments of the world ultimately join together to stop this treacherous course? Or -- lacking the incentive of a majority of the American electorate -- will the much smaller number required for revolution rise to address the necessary correction? (Patriotic Americans indeed celebrate such a corrective means applied earlier in our history.)
.
Perhaps beyond all else in this putrescent maelstrom is the moral issue: When will WE THE PEOPLE rise to do the RIGHT THING? Perhaps you've heard it said that "God smiled when He made America." Now get a grip and listen up: He smiles no more.
