I observed the Labor Day weekend atrocities at Standing Rock in horror, where our unarmed Native brothers and sisters are standing to protect the purity of water for all the land. Men, women and children have been maced, attacked with dogs, and have had to watch their sacred and archaeologically significant burial grounds and ceremonial sites get bulldozed into oblivion by a pipeline company determined to rape Mother Earth to death. These are deep and profound losses for all of us.
I wanted to support these Protectors of the Waters. My first inspiration was to get in my car and drive the 2000 miles to Standing Rock. But realistically, with my allergies and camping disabilities I'd be more of a liability than an asset, regardless of my Cherokee blood.
But we don't have to be on-site to help. Every donation, every share on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram helps educate the world and supports the cause. And so does every prayer. And every vision we hold of wholeness.
Green Party Presidential Candidate Dr Jill Stein and Democracy NOW's Amy Goodman were both onsite. Goodman's footage is in this article.
Stein has been tweeting her support, and participated in defacing a bulldozer for which she was allegedly arrested:

Just moments ago Sarandon tweeted:
Call The White House today @ 888.369.5791 between 9-5pm ET & ask @POTUS to keep his promise & stop the pipeline now.
My own contributions include social media shares, a donation to Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, publication of my own articles and sharing other articles on OpEdNews and social media ( some are listed at the end of this article.)
I'm proud that OpEdNews is shining in its coverage, at one point on the Labor Day weekend, before much of this information was out in the open, we featured six articles about Standing Rock on our front page at one time, one of them top headlined.
And I was inspired by many of the comments under the articles.
In a comment under the article Emergency Federal Hearing After Destruction of Sacred Native Sites, OpEdNews member Allen Kleemann said:
My wife had the greatest idea I wanted to share. First Kudos to Democracy Now for shining light on this. Now on to my wife's idea and before you flame us she is an Army wife and I am a former soldier of minor Native American heritage(like 2 great great grandmothers ago).
Her idea is the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe should simply protest the destruction of their heritage and burial sites by peacefully parking a bulldozer at Arlington National Cemetery, as this "affront to our heritage and disrespect towards our heroes" might get some actual media attention.
